After launching some of the best Android on the market, Oppo has cemented its position in the smartphone industry despite the rigorous competition. The Chinese tech giant is renowned for integrating innovative technology into its handsets and making them accessible for consumers from all walks of life.

Recently, Oppo came up with its own ― in fact, the world’s first ― rollable phone that can be converted into a mini-tablet in a matter of seconds. Instead of an artificial spine (or also known as the hinge) that allows a device to open and close like a book, Oppo appoints BOE Technology to design a panel that slides seamlessly and retracts naturally with a push of a button.

Originally measuring at 6.7 inches, the display panel that comes with an OLED capacitive touchscreen can stretch up to 7.4 inches when needed. These are, nevertheless, merely a concept that Oppo is still experimenting on.

For now, Android fans can still get a taste of Oppo’s latest technology and features through the 5G edition of its Reno5 Pro. Let’s find out what all the hype over Oppo Reno 5 Pro is all about!

Sleek design and splendid colors

If you’re familiar with the Reno series, Oppo usually experiments on coming up with a cutting-edge design and taking photography and videography up a notch with premium features. This is no exception with the Reno 5 Pro either.

Starting from the design, it’s ultra-slim and elegant thanks to its 7.6mm thickness, and it weighs only 173 grams. Its curved front and back panels make holding the phone in one-hand mode comfortable too. Emulating the beauty of celestial elements, Oppo introduces two stunning colors for the Reno 5 Pro. Starry Black is akin to a dark night sky with a slight glint of starlight, whereas Astral Blue is a bright blue sky with some twinkles and luster.

As far as its Super AMOLED display goes, it has a pretty decent size at 6.5 inches and comes with a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate (although 120Hz is the norm for premium flagship phones these days). The virtually bezel-less screen sports a single hole-punch notch on the top left and an in-display fingerprint scanner. In low-light settings, the screen’s peak brightness can reach 1100 nits, which is just 100 nits short of the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s peak brightness.

Multitasking is easy-peasy

Under the hood, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro is powered by the MediaTek’s 7nm Dimensity 1000+ octa-core chipset integrated with 5G, delivering superior performance and top-notch graphics by virtue of Arm Cortex-A77 and Mali-G77 cores. Oppo also couples them with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage so users can enjoy faster processing speed and capacious storage.

Low battery? Panic no more

Ever had those days when you forget to charge your phone in full before leaving your home? Fret no more once Oppo Reno 5 Pro becomes your trusted device. Housing a 4350mAh battery, the Reno 5 Pro’s battery only takes 30 minutes to reach 100% with the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology.

Even if you’re heading somewhere in a rush, you can still squeeze in 5 minutes of charging time to sustain its battery life. With that, you get 4 hours of video playback. When the battery level reaches single-digit, the Super Power Saving Mode allows you to send exchange text messages on WhatsApp for a little over 1.5 hours.

Distraction-free gaming experience

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro is equipped with Dolby Atmos effects that deliver exceptionally immersive surround-sound experiences when you’re gaming or consuming media. There’s the gamer mode that allows you to tune out interruptions temporarily, including alarms, notifications, and incoming calls, so you can enjoy playing your favorite games without pausing. You can also modify the Touch Optimization settings to ensure the perfect fluidity and touch sensitivity according to your game’s nature. Can’t wait to dive into a gaming session? You can tap on Quick Startup to access your games page with just one tap.

AI-powered cameras

The Reno 5 Pro’s quad-camera module comprises an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 64MP main camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP mono camera. Video shooting in dim or backlit settings is no longer a difficult task as the phone’s AI Highlight Video, which merges Ultra Night Video and Live HDR functions, uses an AI algorithm to identify light levels before generating a solution to make your footage vivid and dazzling.

For vloggers and content creators, the dual-view video also comes in handy as the front and rear cameras can record both the scene and your reaction simultaneously, so that saves a lot of hassle from editing and re-recording. If you think video editing is tough, Reno 5 Pro’s Soloop Smart Video Editor will change your mind in no time. With just one tap, you can transition from shooting to editing easily and make use of the tools to add some final touches to your video.

Verdict

Not only can we easily get carried away by the premium-looking Reno Glow matte finish, but we will also find ourselves relishing every aspect of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro, from video shooting, gaming to marathon. Once again, Oppo proves that we don’t have to splurge out on a phone with a handful of premium features. If you appreciate uber-fast charging capability, then look no further than Oppo’s Reno 5 Pro.
