Veeam launches enhanced Data Cloud Vault with predictable pricing and improved security

Veeam’s Data Cloud Vault introduces predictable flat-rate pricing, enhanced security, and Azure integration, starting at US$14 per TB.

Veeam , recognised as the top leader in Data Resilience, has introduced significant updates to its Veeam Data Cloud Vault. This enhanced, fully managed, cloud-based storage solution, developed with Microsoft, provides businesses with an efficient way to securely store critical data and applications through Microsoft Azure, strengthening business resilience. The update adds two new editions with predictable, all-inclusive pricing, solving the unpredictability often linked to cloud storage costs. The upgraded service also integrates directly with the Veeam Data Platform, simplifying offsite backups for Veeam users. Veeam will present the updated Data Cloud Vault at Microsoft Ignite in Chicago, from 19 to 22 November.

While cloud storage offers advantages like enhanced security and scalability, businesses often face challenges, such as managing costs, improving operational efficiency, and configuring secure systems. Veeam Data Cloud Vault addresses these issues by providing a streamlined, secure solution leveraging Microsoft Azure’s infrastructure.

“Given the value of data in a digital world and the growing risks to that data including cyber-attacks, organisations need a reliable and cost-effective path to data resilience,” said Niraj Tolia, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Veeam. “Veeam Data Cloud Vault provides secure and hassle-free cloud storage, eliminating management challenges and unpredictable pricing, and reinforces our strategic partnership with Microsoft. Our commitment to easy, secure, and predictable cloud storage for backups, further solidifies Veeam as the #1 global leader in Data Resilience.”

Key features offer cost control, security, and ease of use

The Veeam Data Cloud Vault update incorporates Azure Blob Cool Storage, enabling businesses to simplify data management with reduced cost unpredictability. Developed as an air-gapped, always-encrypted offsite backup, this service allows companies to securely store data with rapid recovery options. It also helps minimise downtime through fast restores to both on-premises servers and Azure virtual machines (VMs).

Predictable pricing is a key feature of the new Veeam Data Cloud Vault, which offers flat, per-terabyte rates. Organisations of all sizes can benefit from secure cloud-based storage without the hidden fees common with cloud solutions. The two new editions, Foundation and Advanced, start at US$14 per TB, providing an affordable option for businesses prioritising data security and cost management.

Aung Oo, Vice President of Azure Storage at Microsoft, highlighted the benefits of this collaboration, stating, “Integrating Veeam’s Vault offering with the Veeam Data Platform simplifies the process for customers to safeguard their data and infrastructure. Given the increasing threats that customers must defend against, making data protection more accessible is crucial. By building Veeam Data Cloud Vault on Azure, with its diverse regional options, customers can meet their data residency and needs. The combination of Azure’s secure cloud foundation and Veeam’s strengths in business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) provides an excellent end-to-end, anti-ransomware solution for customers.”

The enhanced service also employs Zero Trust Data Resilience (ZDTR) principles, ensuring data remains secure from cyberthreats. Veeam Data Cloud Vault aligns with the 3-2-1-1-0 data protection rule, giving businesses a structured cybersecurity approach.

A streamlined solution for data backup and recovery

Veeam Data Cloud Vault is designed for organisations that may lack the specialised skills to set up and manage secure cloud storage. This fully managed service simplifies the entire cloud storage process, from setup to monitoring, through the Veeam Data Platform. Companies can now manage their storage with ease, directly restoring data to on-premises servers or Azure VMs as needed.

Russ Fellows, Head of Labs for The Futurum Group, highlighted the service’s value, stating, “Businesses face constant security threats, along with a need to balance their cyber resiliency goals with budgeting realities. In speaking with clients and based upon our own experience, one of the biggest challenges with using Public Cloud infrastructure is the unpredictable billing that can result. Veeam’s Data Cloud Vault helps companies enhance their security posture while also providing them with simple, all-inclusive, consumption-based pricing, making it a great option for businesses of all sizes.”

Offering an affordable, secure, and scalable backup solution, Veeam Data Cloud Vault equips organisations of all sizes to meet their data protection and recovery needs.
