TWSC and Viettel AI establish strategic partnership in AI and cloud computing

TWSC and Viettel AI sign a strategic MoU to foster innovation in cloud computing and AI, focusing on healthcare and smart cities.

Taiwan Web Service Corp (TWSC), a subsidiary of ASUS, announced a strategic partnership with the Viettel Center for Data Services and Artificial Intelligence (Viettel AI), a division of Vietnam’s leading corporation, Viettel Group. This unveiled on the eve of Computex 2024, marks a notable advance in business and technical cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formalised at the ASUS headquarters, with Jackie Hsu, ASUS Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Open Platform & AIoT business groups, and Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, witnessing the agreement. This partnership centres on developing cloud computing for AI, generative AI, and large language models, with a focus on healthcare and smart cities.

Advancing AI capabilities across regions

Under the terms of the MoU, TWSC and Viettel AI will share their technical, professional, and practical expertise to foster innovation, aiming to explore new markets and enhance the quality of existing products and services.

“We are honoured to collaborate with Viettel AI to enhance TWSC’s Formosa Foundation Model for the Vietnamese language. This partnership will also enable the development of AI not only in Taiwan but also in Vietnam. It represents TWSC’s inaugural step into the international market and has the potential to replicate in other regions,” said Peter Wu, CEO of ASUS Cloud & TWSC.

“This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in Viettel AI’s journey to become a leading provider of AI, Big Data, Robotics, and Digital Twin services in Vietnam and beyond. We believe that the combined strengths of Viettel AI and TWSC will bring about innovative solutions to meet the growing needs of customers in the region,” said Nguyen Manh Quy, CEO of Viettel AI.

Expanding technological frontiers

TWSC operates a high-performance computing system in Taiwan, equipped with over 2,000 GPUs, ranking among the top 100 globally in computing power. Their generative AI ecosystem offers numerous applications across various sectors, including medical, healthcare, manufacturing, and enterprise.

Founded in 2014, Viettel AI has led in the development of products and services in AI, Big Data, Robotics, and Digital Twin technologies. Its ecosystem is trusted and utilised by many large domestic and international organisations and businesses. This partnership is poised to enhance their position as leaders in technological innovation.
