The latest scoop on Windows 11’s newest update

Explore the new features of Windows 11's 23H2 update, including Copilot, modifications to Microsoft Teams, and more. Learn how to download and experience the latest update easily.

Microsoft just rolled out an update for Windows 11, advancing it to version 23H2. This cumulative update delivers some exhilarating features initially revealed in September, including Copilot, and introduces modifications to Teams, among other aspects. Below is a breakdown of the new elements and steps to install it on your PC.

Unveiling the anticipated Copilot

When Copilot was first unveiled at the September event, many expected its immediate availability — and indeed, it was, but not for everyone. The 23H2 update, however, ensures Copilot is downloaded and activated by default, along with other features announced during the Surface event. More enhancements are on the horizon.

Tweaks to Microsoft Teams and other features

Not all changes were previously disclosed, but here are a couple. The Chat function morphs into a free version of Microsoft Teams, now pinned to your taskbar as a default. Teams remains the hub for all communication on Windows, encapsulating text chats, calls, meetings, and community chats. Moreover, you can now send and receive SMS through Teams, a reminiscent feature of Skype. Finding acquaintances on Teams has been simplified with the new “People” experience. Additionally, system component search has been refined in the Start menu, categorised in a dedicated section for easy access.

Windows Copilot now allows an image prompt, enhancing user interaction. The essence of this update revolves around Copilot, seamlessly integrated into the OS to perform various tasks like organising files or drafting a blog post. Think of it as Bing Chat for Windows with voice control. A how-to guide is available to ease your Copilot user journey.

More updates include AI integrations in Paint, Snipping Tool, and Photos. Paint now accommodates layers and intuitive background removal, besides converting text prompts into images with DALL-E 3 model support. Video editing is simplified with Microsoft Clipchamp, while Snipping Tool now includes a screen recording feature with audio.

Switching to a new PC is simplified using Windows Backup. You can now download your backed-up data directly from the cloud by logging into your Microsoft account. Prominently, Microsoft is advancing Passkeys, a futuristic feature envisaged to replace passwords, necessitating just a smile for logon. Discover more on the complete list of features rolled out since September on Microsoft’s blog post.

How to get the Windows 11 23H2 update

If your PC operates on the preceding Windows 11 22H2 update, you’re set to download the new version. The update isn’t mandatory for now but is more accessible. Navigate to Settings, then Windows Update. Hit Check for updates and activate the option to receive the latest updates as they roll out.

There’s no hurry if you prefer to wait for this update. However, if you’re keen on experimenting with Copilot, seize this opportunity to explore AI advancements on Windows.
