Spending some time in front of the TV is a hobby we all enjoy. With so many streaming services and shows, it can be hard to choose what to watch. Are you in the mood for something funny or a true-crime documentary? Still, the choice is not really narrowed down because there are thousands of possibilities. Keep reading if you are looking for some movie to watch tonight or a new TV series that you can binge-watch over the weekend. We prepared for you the 20 best shows to watch right now.

1. Vikings: Valhalla

If you loved the original Vikings series, you would adore this one. The actions occur 100 years after the ones from History Channel’s series. We will now see an entirely new world where the Vikings already rule over England and Normandy. They will also take us on their journey across the Atlantic Ocean. You can expect the sequel to be at least as bloody as the original.

2. The Witcher

Another fantasy TV series that you won’t be able to take your eyes off. Luckily for you, there are already two seasons out so that you can enjoy it for the whole weekend. Geralt of Riviera is a favorite character of the people that loved the books series or the video games based on them. The TV series will introduce us to the stories of princess Ciri and Yennefer of Vengerberg. It is a fantastic show to watch but be prepared that it is very cruel and brutal at moments — typical for The Witcher franchise.

3. Seinfeld

A classic that will make you laugh to tiers. Seinfeld is a non-Netflix original that is an all-time favorite to generations already. Netflix is, however, the streaming platform that has the worldwide rights for this show, and if you haven’t watched Jerry Seinfeld by now, you should definitely do so. The situations that the characters will face will make you laugh so hard that you will never get enough of the TV series.

4. The Queen’s Gambit

This show made chess very trending after its release back in 2020. The Queen’s Gambit stares at the magnificent Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon, a genius chess player. The action is set back in the 60s when women were still new to the world of this sport that men dominate. We will see the personal and professional challenges the chess star will face in becoming the best in the world.

5. The Crown

Now is the time to catch up on The Crown before the new season comes out. This is a drama that will take us behind the scenes of the life of the British monarchy. Of , a big part of the show is fiction, but the timeline and most of the events are based on the real story. We can follow the life of Queen Elizabeth II since her coronation, and the last two seasons are supposed to show her and her family’s story in the 21st century as well. 

6. Peaky Blinders

And if you didn’t get enough of the British accent from The Crown, you can continue with Peaky Blinders. You will see the story of a street gang in 1919 called Peaky Blinders. Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy will become one of your favorite criminals; no matter how bad they are, you will still love them.

7. Russian Doll

If you have already watched season 1 of Russian Doll, we have good news for you — the second one is now available! We already saw the challenges and fun situations that Nadia faced on the day of her 36th birthday. She kept dying and waking up in the bathroom until she found out what she had to do to break the loop. The first season was exciting, and we are sure that the second one won’t disappoint. 

8. Squid Game

Squid Game is the first South Korean show to reach first place on the top charts of Netflix in the US and in many other countries. It is a completely unexpected show that will surprise you on every step. Random people who are unhappy with their lives and owe a lot of money to the bank or gangs are invited to participate in mysterious survival games. We will not spoil many unexpected twists for you but be prepared to watch something bloodier than expected.

9. House of Cards

One of the last roles of Kevin Spacey was as Frank Underwood in House of Cards. The TV series takes us on his journey to becoming the president of the US. His wife Claire is always on his side, and even in the last season, she will be the one taking over the central role. If you like shows with lots of drama and political scandal, then this one is for you.

10. Maid 

This is a miniseries based on the memoirs that will tell the story of the main character Alex. She is a young woman trying to support herself and her daughter. As the name suggests, she is working as a maid. She will face many challenges and try to do everything to guarantee her daughter a better life.

11. Unorthodox 

Another miniseries that is again based on a memoir. It may not be something everyone will love because it will explore some boundaries that might be too much for some people. Unorthodox tells Esty Shapiro’s story. She is part of an ultra-Orthodox community. She doesn’t want to enter the arranged marriage her parents are forcing her into, and she escapes to Berlin. However, leaving her community is not as easy as she thinks.

12. Lupin

 A thriller that will take us to beautiful Paris. If you love French literature, you probably have heard about Arsene Lupin — a famous thief who wants revenge for his father’s death. The show is very entertaining and will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are already two parts out, so you can enjoy the French charm of Lupin for quite a while.

13. Bridgerton

Another TV series that is based on a famous book series. Bridgerton takes place during the victorian age, and each season will focus on a different member of the Bridgerton family. The first one is about the oldest daughter, Daphne, who becomes the queen’s diamond for the season. The second one is just as charming and focuses on the oldest son Anthony.

14. Archive 81

A great sci-fi that is actually taking place in 2 timelines. Archive 81 shows the story of an archivist who wants to restore a huge collection of videotapes. The content of the videotapes is more than exciting and focuses on a mysterious cult and a story of a young woman that is supposed to be dead. There will be some supernatural elements that will take your breath away. 

15. Stranger Things

Another great supernatural show that many people love and can’t wait for the next season is just around the corner. Stranger Things takes place back in the 80s,’ and the main characters are a couple of teenagers with an expected meeting with the supernatural. El s a girl with powers and lived in a lab for most of her life. Once she is out of there and tries to start her life in Hawkins, she meets her new friends. You will love their scary adventures, so don’t miss them out. And now season 4 is out, so don’t miss it!

16. Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth is a show that will take you to a world where a pandemic is happening, but very different from the one we are going through. Kids will suddenly be born hybrids and have some animal features. The main character Gus and his companions will try to discover why the pandemic happened and what they can do about it.

17. Money Heist

An amazing show that we can even praise enough. It is a Spanish TV series that will follow a group of criminals about to rob two very big institutions in Spain. The final season is already out, so you can watch them all over the weekend. We all have our favorite characters, and the interesting thing about them is that they use the names of cities to keep their anonymity. What name would you use if you joined their crew?

18. The Chair

Sandra Oh plays the main character in The Chair, a great comedy-drama. The action takes place in a university where the main character, Professor Ji-Yoon Kim, takes the position of the English department chair. Previously, the position was never given to a woman, and you can imagine that this will be only one of the challenges for Professor Kim. It is an enjoyable show that you should watch now.

19. Sex Education

A show you will definitely want to binge-watch. The action takes place in a high school where the main character Otis is just discovering the world of sex. However, this is not the only thing that makes the show so funny — his mom is a sex therapist. Sounds uncomfortable and funny, right? It is and is worth watching. 

20. Inventing Anna

Inventing Anna is a show that you will just be unable to stop watching before seeing the end of it. This is a drama miniseries based on the real story of Anna Sorokin. The main character is a con artist that almost managed to secure a $25 million loan from a hedge fund. She claimed that she is a German heiress with over 60 million euros trust fund.
