TCL opens its first Singapore store in the basement of Northpoint

TCL debuts its first physical store in Singapore's Northpoint mall, showcasing a range of electronics and home appliances.

Electronics giant TCL has opened its inaugural physical store in Singapore, located in the basement of Northpoint shopping mall. Spanning 500 square feet, this store serves as a prime showcase for TCL’s diverse product range, encompassing lifestyle items and home appliances.

Impressive product line-up

Patrons can feast their eyes on TCL’s cutting-edge offerings within the store’s confines. Notable attractions include the brand’s smart TVs, featuring a mammoth 98-inch mini-LED display and a gaming display boasting a blazing 160Hz refresh rate and lightning-fast 1ms response time.

Surprising additions: Home appliances galore

Surprising many, TCL has unveiled a selection of home appliances alongside its signature electronic gadgets. Air conditioning units, refrigerators, air purifiers, and washing machines grace the display shelves, teasing eager consumers with their imminent availability. These home appliances will hit the market in the second quarter of the year, promising functionality and style to prospective buyers.

Challenges overcome: The road to physical retail

Wilson Zhang, Chief Operating Officer of TCL’s local distributor JNW, shed light on the hurdles before establishing this physical retail presence. Pandemic-related disruptions and the quest for a suitable location initially hampered plans for a brick-and-mortar store. Nevertheless, perseverance has paid off, with the basement of Northpoint emerging as the ideal setting for TCL’s maiden foray into the Singaporean retail landscape.

Retail evolution: From online to offline

In recent years, TCL has predominantly engaged consumers through online platforms such as Lazada and Shopee, alongside established retail outlets like Fairprice Xtra and Giant Hypermarket. While these avenues remain viable, the inauguration of the Northpoint store marks a pivotal step towards bridging the online-offline divide, offering customers a tangible experience with TCL’s innovative products.
