-based healthy snack maker, Boxgreen, has secured an undisclosed amount in a pre-series A round from existing investor Expara Ventures, as well as Octava Impact Investment and Angel Central Syndicate.

The startup plans to use the funds to support its growth plans and to expand the manufacturing and distribution. Part of it will also be utilized for the setting up of a new manufacturing facility in Changi Prison to grow its operations while providing training and employment opportunities to ex-offenders. The facility is estimated to be completed by the end of May with support from The Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise.

Before the funding, Boxgreen has acquired Squeezed! Juice, a cold press juice brand, in a bid to provide a different offering to its customers.

Boxgreen continues to see a rising growth year on year of consumers who are looking for healthier and more sustainable choices to consume, and how products they consume benefit the community or the planet. Therefore, the startup has been focusing on sustainability as well as to look beyond the bottom line on the impact they make on people and the planet.
