Spotify faces service disruptions and is working on a fix

Spotify confirms it is facing service issues that are affecting users' access and is working on a solution.

On September 29, Spotify confirmed that users face significant issues with its app and web player. These problems emerged late on Sunday morning, affecting many users who reported not accessing the platform correctly. The Spotify Status account took to X (formerly Twitter) to inform users, saying, โ€œWeโ€™re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!โ€

Nature of the problems

As reports flooded in from users on social media, a wide range of issues became apparent. Many experienced songs that paused unexpectedly, while others found themselves completely locked out of their accounts. These interruptions were particularly noticeable just before 11 AM ET, according to Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages. By 1 PM, many users struggled to use the service effectively.

At the time of this writing, the web player was operating intermittently. Initially, it would load, only to be replaced by a โ€œrequest timeoutโ€ error after a few moments. Eventually, the screen displayed a โ€œPage not availableโ€ message. On the other hand, while the app showed signs of improvement, many users continued to face problems.

The comments section quickly became a forum for users to vent their frustrations, creating an almost chaotic atmosphere.
