Sony PS5 reveal finally happened, and it showed off the new look as well as trailers for several games, including Hitman III and Gran Turismo 7. These games were shown alongside Sony’s upcoming design for PS5, which is thin, tall, and colored white on its back and front, with blue light and some black accent colors on the sides.

The launch date and the price for PS5 will be revealed later, the company said. They also said that there would be a diskless “all-digital” version of it, something they mentioned in 2012 for the first time.

Miles Morales, Sonyโ€™s Spiderman will launch alongside PS5 console just in time for the shopping season, Sony confirmed. This game will focus on Miles, the main character from the Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse.

The reveal for PS5 had been planned for June 4 but was rescheduled to June 11 due to the protests against police violence and racial discrimination that surfaced as a result of the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was murdered on camera by a cop.

Last night’s event was the latest by Microsoft and Sony ahead of the launch of their respective Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles. These new devices are the first major new consoles since Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were released back in 2013.

Another event for Microsoft is planned for this July, when they will show off brand new games from Microsoft’s development studios, including 343 Industries, developers of Halo space combat series. Sony also has other events planned, but they did not disclose when they will happen.

The entire reveal was held online, and it was live on Twitch and YouTube, lasting for about an hour. On why the reveal was conducted online, Jim Ryan, PlayStation’s CEO, said, “We wanted something forward-facing and future-facing, something for the 2020s.”

On how much the console will cost, Ryan did not have a comment. He added that manufacturing is still on track despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected many businesses across the world as it has infected nearly 7.5 million people, with over 420,000 succumbing to the disease.

Sony also added that there would be more events where will know other details, such as the launch date, pricing. During the reveal, Sony showed more than 12 games, nine of them being built by its studios, including Insomniac Games, who made the Spiderman game.

Highlights of the reveal include Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales, Godfall, Demon’s Soul Remake, GhostWire: Tokyo, and Project Athia, among others.
