Sony and Honda reveal Afeela EV starting at US$89,900

Sony and Honda's Afeela EV starts at US$89,900; reservations are now open for California residents with a refundable US$200 fee.

Sony and Honda’s collaborative electric vehicle brand, Afeela, has finally revealed the price of its upcoming EV. After much anticipation, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida announced on January 6 at CES 2025 that the Afeela electric vehicle will start at US$89,900, with an upgraded trim available at a higher price of US$102,900.

Combining innovation and practicality

Afeela combines Honda’s manufacturing reliability with Sony’s cutting-edge infotainment and software expertise. First unveiled in 2023, the four-door all-electric sedan boasts innovative features, luxurious design, and advanced technology. Early concepts of the vehicle showcased plush interiors, a yoke-style steering wheel, and an impressive movie theatre-like display. Notably, the initial prototype omitted conventional features like door handles, which sparked curiosity.

However, the production model is expected to balance the futuristic concept and practicality. While details remain under wraps, door handles and other real-world necessities are expected to make an appearance.

Reservations now open

Reservations for the Afeela EV are now open for those eager to get behind the wheel. Customers in California can secure their spot with a refundable reservation fee of US$200. Both trims of the vehicle also include a three-year complimentary subscription to select features and functionality, adding extra value to the package.

Additional updates about the Afeela will be revealed during a separate press event at CES 2025. With Honda’s manufacturing expertise and Sony’s focus on entertainment and innovation, the Afeela promises to deliver an exciting new entry in the electric vehicle market.
