Shopee Indonesia teams up with Jakarta-headquartered unicorn, Traveloka, to add a flight ticket booking feature on its app since April of this year.

Traveloka, one of Indonesia’s unicorn travel tech companies, is an online travel agent with a wide range of products from train, plane, to accomodations. By partnering with Shopee, it allows Shopee’s users to use Traveloka’s booking system and to receive a booking ticket through the Shopee app within a minute. Users can also request for additional baggage allowances via the app. If there is any refund needed, it will be carried out after approximately 14 days upon request.

This partnership provides a boost to Shopee’s suite of digital products which includes streaming vouchers, mobile internet data, and event tickets. It will also offers both startups a win-win situation whereby they can expand their userbases and leverage on their individual technologies to bring more convenience to their users.

In May 2018, Traveloka had collaborated with popular brands to reward customers through the Traveloka Points Catalogue. With Traveloka Points Catalogue, Traveloka’s customers can enjoy the benefits of its loyalty program by converting the accumulated points to exciting Traveloka Points Catalogue perks which include brands like Shopee.

With this, Shopee aims to beat last year’s record by achieving more than 1.5 million transactions during Ramadan this year, and it’s not impossible with the addition of another popular product category. Meanwhile, the company’s largest transaction till date is during the 12.12 Shopping Festival which reached 5.4 million transactions in a single day in Indonesia alone.
