Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 FE brings AI features to a budget-friendly price

Samsung announces the Galaxy S24 FE with AI features starting at US$649.99, alongside new Galaxy Watch FE LTE and Galaxy Tab S10 series tablets.

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE just days after accidentally listing it on their website. The latest Fan Edition (FE) phone in Samsung’s lineup will start at US$649.99 for the 128GB model, with a 256GB option available for US$709.99. While the design closely resembles last year’s S23 FE, the S24 FE comes equipped with Samsung’s newest AI-driven software features, making it a powerful yet affordable choice for tech enthusiasts.

A familiar design with new AI capabilities

The Galaxy S24 FE continues to maintain its predecessor’s sleek, familiar design. It boasts a 6.7-inch OLED display with a narrower bezel, offering users an immersive viewing experience. One of the significant upgrades this year is the addition of Samsung’s latest AI features, including generative photo editing, which lets you edit your images more naturally, and instant slow-motion video capture. These features are designed to elevate your content creation, making it easier than ever to produce professional-looking photos and videos right from your phone.

Inside, the S24 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400e processor. While some may view this as a step down from the Snapdragon processor used in the US versions of the Galaxy S24, Samsung has reassured users that the larger vapour chamber this year will enhance performance, particularly for gaming. Whether you’re an avid mobile gamer or a casual user, the S24 FE promises smooth and responsive performance.

Strong battery life and long-lasting support

The Galaxy S24 FE comes with a 4,700mAh battery, ensuring you stay powered up throughout your day. Additionally, it includes IP68 dust and water resistance, meaning your phone can withstand everyday accidents without worry. Samsung has committed to offering seven years of operating system (OS) and security updates, so your phone will remain up-to-date and secure for years to come.

The phone’s camera setup is another highlight. You’ll find a 50-megapixel primary lens paired with an 8MP telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom. Both lenses come equipped with optical image stabilisation, ensuring clear and steady shots. The S24 FE also includes a 12MP ultra-wide lens, perfect for capturing expansive landscapes or group photos, and a 10MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies. This is the first time Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, an AI-driven camera feature that enhances image quality, has been included in the FE series.

New tablets and the Galaxy Watch FE LTE release

Alongside the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung is also launching the LTE version of the Galaxy Watch FE. Preorders for the smartwatch, which was initially announced in June, are now open, with the LTE model priced at US$249.99. It will officially hit stores on October 3.

In addition to the watch, Samsung is introducing two new tablets: the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, priced at US$999.99, and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, which costs US$1,199.99. The Tab S10 Plus features a 12.4-inch display, while the Ultra model offers a massive 14.6-inch screen. Both tablets are equipped with anti-reflective coatings and quad speakers, providing an excellent media experience. They are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 Plus processor and include an S Pen, making them ideal for both work and creative projects.

Samsung claims that the Tab S10 Ultra offers an 18% boost in CPU performance, a 28% increase in GPU capabilities, and a 14% enhancement in NPU (neural processing unit) compared to the previous Tab S9 Ultra. These improvements are particularly beneficial for AI features such as Note Assist and Draw Assist. Additionally, the tablets come with a new Galaxy AI key, making access to these AI-driven tools quicker and more convenient.
