Samsung is bringing more artificial intelligence (AI) features to its affordable smartphone range. The company has announced the launch of the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26, which now include what Samsung calls โawesome intelligence.โ These devices come equipped with new AI-powered image editing tools, previously only available in the high-end Galaxy S25 lineup.
New AI features to enhance photo editing
One of the standout additions is Best Face, an AI tool that lets you swap facial expressions in motion photos. If someone blinks or looks away, you can replace their expression with a better one. This feature is similar to Google Pixelโs Best Take, which debuted with the Galaxy S25 earlier this year.
Samsung has also upgraded its object removal tool, allowing you to clean up photos more efficiently. Additionally, improved photo filters enhance image quality with a single tap. Googleโs Circle to Search is now integrated into the A-series, letting you search for text and images simply by circling them on the screen. Samsung first introduced this feature to select A-series devices last August.
Beyond AI, Samsung has made a major commitment to software updates. All three phones will receive up to six years of Android OS and security upgrades, which are longer than previous A-series models.
Design improvements and hardware updates
Alongside new AI features, Samsung has made subtle design changes. All three devices now feature an oval-shaped rear camera housing. Another notable change is that the displays on all three models are now 6.7 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the previous A-series models, which had slightly smaller screens.
The Galaxy A56 retains the 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide sensor, 5MP macro camera, and 12MP front cameraโa downgrade from the A55โs 32MP selfie camera.
Under the hood, the A56 runs on Samsungโs upgraded Exynos 1580 chip, while the A36 is powered by Qualcommโs previous-generation Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. The A26 uses a different chipset that Samsung has yet to specify.
All three devices come with a 5,000mAh battery, ensuring long-lasting performance. However, only the A56 and A36 support 45W fast charging, including an upgraded vapour chamber cooling system for better performance. Samsung has extended IP67 dust and water resistance to the A26 for the first time, making it more durable than its predecessor.
Pricing and availability
Samsung has confirmed pricing and release dates for the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. The Galaxy A56 will be priced at US$499 in the United States and is expected to launch later this year. The A36 will be available on March 26th, exclusively at Best Buy, for US$399, while the A26 will be released on March 28th for US$299.
For customers in the United Kingdom, the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 will go on sale on March 19th, with prices set at ยฃ499, ยฃ399, and ยฃ299, respectively.
The new A-series models will ship with Android 15 and be available in various colours depending on the device.
