Samsung may only release the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Ultra models in the upcoming lineup

Samsung may release only the Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra, dropping the base model from its upcoming flagship tablet lineup.

Samsung is rumoured to change its upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series significantly.

According to a report from The JoongAng, the tech giant may release only two models in its flagship tablet lineup: the Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Notably, there would be no base model, the Galaxy Tab S10.

Departure from the usual strategy

If this rumour is true, it departs from Samsungโ€™s typical strategy of offering three sizes in its high-end tablet range. The most miniature model, the 11-inch version, has been a staple in previous generations.

The report suggests that the Tab S10+ will keep its 12.4-inch display, while the Ultra version will continue to boast an expansive 14.9-inch screen. Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra reveal a design similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

Processor variations

Additionally, there are rumours that the Galaxy Tab S10+ may feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor in some regions, diverging from the typical Snapdragon chipset. The Ultra model, however, is expected to stick with a Snapdragon chipset. The report mentions that it would likely have the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, the Ultra model could use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or even the Snapdragon X Elite.

Production and release

Production of these devices is reportedly set to begin this month, with a release likely later this year. The company is expected to wait to unveil these tablets at the upcoming Unpacked event in Paris on July 10.

While this change could streamline Samsungโ€™s tablet offerings, it may disappoint buyers who prefer more compact and affordable devices. This move might also indicate that the smaller model was the least popular in previous lineups, prompting this adjustment.
