Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sells out twice in Korea

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sells out twice in Korea, attracting high demand for its exclusive design and high-resolution camera.

Samsungโ€™s latest exclusive, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, has struck a chord with its Korean audience, selling out twice in record time. This limited-release device, available only in South Korea, has been in high demand, and both the initial and restock batches disappeared in minutes.

Tech publication SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition first sold out during its October 2024 launch. When Samsung restocked, it vanished in just five minutesโ€”faster than the first round, demonstrating its popularity with eager fans and collectors alike. Korean telecom providers, including KT, LG Uplus, and SK Telecom (SKT), quickly ran out of stock, underscoring the intense demand. Samsung has now advised customers to sign up for restock alerts on its Korean online store.

What makes the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition unique?

Samsungโ€™s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is an enhanced version of the Galaxy Z Fold6, launched in July 2024. It offers a more refined design, with a slimmer and lighter frame than any other Samsung foldable, making it particularly appealing to fans seeking style and functionality. Notably, this model features Samsungโ€™s widest Main Screen and Secondary Display to date, offering a more immersive experience for viewing and multitasking.

In addition to its sleek design, the Special Edition has an upgraded 200MP main camera sensor. This enhancement provides substantially more megapixels than the standard Galaxy Z Fold6โ€™s 50MP camera, allowing for superior image clarity and detail, especially through pixel-binning technology. This boost is a significant appeal for photography enthusiasts who value high-resolution images.

However, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Special Edition doesnโ€™t support Samsungโ€™s S Pen stylus. While the S Pen has been a popular addition to many Galaxy models, Samsung prioritised the lightweight and slim profile over stylus compatibility in this exclusive edition. Another distinguishing feature of this phone is its limited releaseโ€”available only in South Korea, and itโ€™s an item of high demand and limited supply.

Price and availability

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is unique in features and price. While the Galaxy Z Fold6 retails at approximately S$2,548 for the 256GB version, the Special Edition starts at 512GB and costs KRW 2,789,600, translating to roughly S$2,665.63. This slight price increase provides buyers with expanded storage capacity and several exclusive features, making it an attractive option for dedicated Samsung fans.

For those who missed the restocks, Samsung offers a sign-up option for notifications on the Korean online store page. This will inform interested buyers when the next batch becomes available. However, with two rapid sellouts, it remains to be seen how long future restocks will last.

Samsungโ€™s release of this exclusive edition illustrates its dedication to capturing the loyalty of its home market with unique features and limited availability. This targeted approach keeps Samsungโ€™s foldable lineup fresh and competitive, solidifying the Galaxy Z Fold Special Editionโ€™s status as a premium, collector-worthy device.
