OpenAI’s GPT Store gets a major upgrade with user ratings and expanded builder profiles

Learn about the latest enhancements to OpenAI's GPT Store, including new user ratings and expanded builder profiles.

A little over a month ago, OpenAI launched the GPT Store, a platform designed for third-party users to develop, share, and showcase their custom chatbots. This innovative marketplace has now received significant upgrades, with the introduction of user ratings and more detailed profiles for GPT builders. However, the core incentive promised to GPT creators—a share of revenue based on the usage of their custom creations—remains an unfulfilled promise.

New feature: User ratings and private feedback

OpenAI recently announced these exciting updates on the social network X (formerly known as Twitter). The enhancements include a user rating system for third-party GPTs. This feature is accessible through a dropdown menu located below the name of each GPT at the top-left corner of the interface. By selecting “Send feedback,” users are presented with a pop-up window where they can leave a star rating (from 1 to 5) and optionally send a private email to the GPT’s creator. Additionally, there’s an option for users to include their email address with the feedback, although this is not mandatory.

Expanded profiles for GPT builders

In a separate but equally significant update, GPT Builders now have the opportunity to provide more comprehensive information in their profiles. This information is visible when users click on the builders’ names. Builders can now add links to their LinkedIn profiles, X accounts, and personal websites and display their overall average rating and total number of ratings received. Moreover, the profiles show the total number of “conversations” or sessions initiated with their GPTs. This transparency enhances the credibility of GPT builders and helps users make more informed decisions when exploring different chatbots.

Addressing the recent ChatGPT glitch

It’s important to mention that these updates come after a bizarre incident involving ChatGPT. Earlier this week, many users experienced an unusual glitch following an update, which caused ChatGPT to respond with incoherent and nonsensical answers. This issue raised user concerns but was promptly addressed and resolved by OpenAI, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a high-quality user experience.

In summary, the GPT Store’s latest updates reflect OpenAI’s dedication to improving the platform for creators and users. The introduction of a user rating system and the expansion of builder profiles are significant steps forward in enhancing the overall functionality and transparency of the marketplace. While the anticipated revenue-sharing model for GPT creators is still on the horizon, these new features mark a notable advancement in the GPT Store’s journey.
