Nubia unveils AI-powered Z60 Ultra and Z60S Pro smartphones

Smartphone brand Nubia has introduced two flagship-grade phones, the Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version and the Nubia Z60S Pro. According to Nubia’s official press release, these phones are designed for users who want to “fully express their individuality and self-expression.” Let’s dive into what each phone offers.

Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version

The Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, supporting Nubia’s claims of advanced processing capabilities and top-tier performance. The phone boasts a 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging, ensuring long battery life and quick recharge. Its 6.8-inch AMOLED display, with a 2,480 x 1,116-pixel resolution, offers up to 120 Hz refresh rate and a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, promising vibrant and smooth visuals. Additionally, the phone holds an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, adding to its durability.

The front camera is a 12 MP sixth-generation under-display camera (UDC), enhanced by the Front Camera Enhancement Algorithm 6.0, which ensures clear under-display selfies. The phone features a triple camera setup on the back: a 50MP primary lens at 35mm, a 50MP ultra-wide lens at 18mm, and a 64MP telephoto lens at 85mm. These cameras are supported by AI-enabled algorithms (NeoVision AI Photography System 2.0) and optical image stabilisation for all three lenses. The telephoto camera includes AI Telephoto features like AI Telephoto Moon, which is perfect for capturing celestial photos.

Nubia Z60S Pro

The Nubia Z60S Pro, equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, focuses on system performance and imaging capabilities. It includes a triple rear camera array with a 50MP primary lens at 35mm, a 50MP ultra-wide lens at 13mm, and an 8MP lens at 80mm. The phone’s 6.8-inch AMOLED display, with a 2,800 x 1,260 pixel resolution, offers a 120Hz refresh rate and full DCI-P3 gamut coverage, ensuring an immersive viewing experience.

This model also features several AI imaging functions, including AI Magic Eraser, AI Sky, and AI Blur, which allow users to edit their photos directly on the device. The phone supports a 65:24 cinema format for a unique visual experience, and its Galaxy Night Scene Mode, trained on 12 starry sky algorithms, enhances astral photography. The Z60S Pro has LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,100mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging. While it has no IP rating, it features Longxi Durable Glass, which Nubia claims is twice as resistant to drops and scratches as previous models.

Pricing and availability

Both phones are available for pre-order, with official sales starting on August 12, 2024, at 8 a.m. Singapore time. Nubia has an online platform for international buyers. The Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version starts at US$649 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, with options for US$699 (12GB + 256GB), US$779 (16GB + 512GB), and US$879 (16GB + 1TB). The available colours are silver and black.

The Nubia Z60S Pro starts at US$569 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, with options for US$669 (16GB + 512GB) and US$769 (16GB + 1TB). The available colours are aqua, white, and black.
