NTT DATA partners with UPS on 10-year digital transformation deal

NTT DATA signs 10-year deal with UPS to modernise IT infrastructure, support AI innovation, and manage data centre operations.

NTT DATA and UPS have entered a 10-year strategic collaboration aimed at modernising the logistics company’s IT infrastructure and data centres, while accelerating digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services. The long-term agreement will see NTT DATA deliver end-to-end technology services, including custom data centre colocation, cloud migration, and support for digital product development.

The partnership marks a key milestone in UPS’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, reduce risks and costs, and invest in innovation to meet evolving supply chain demands. The collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to driving growth and future readiness in the logistics and technology sectors.

Abhijit Dubey, President and CEO of NTT DATA, Inc., said, “We are honoured to be selected by UPS as a strategic partner on their transformation journey as they operationalise their ‘data centre of the future’ vision, deliver the next generation IT infrastructure and accelerate digital product development.”

Dubey highlighted NTT DATA’s position as the world’s third-largest data centre provider and its unique ability to offer full-stack transformation services. “NTT DATA is well-positioned to help UPS reduce operational costs and risks, drive innovation and revenue growth and maintain market leadership,” he said. “This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to helping clients swiftly keep pace with the markets and prepare for the future.”

Enhancing infrastructure with hybrid solutions

Under the terms of the agreement, NTT DATA will acquire and operate one of UPS’s key mission-critical data centres. It will enable the colocation of IT workloads using a blend of public cloud and on-premises solutions. This hybrid approach is designed to improve operational efficiency, increase flexibility, and support UPS’s growing digital needs.

Ken Finnerty, Senior Vice President of Global Information Technology at UPS, commented on the partnership’s strategic significance. “NTT DATA will bring world-class data centre and infrastructure services to UPS,” he said. “This arrangement allows the UPS technology teams, under our ‘Efficiency Reimagined’ initiatives, to focus their expertise on the development of digital solutions to solve customers’ supply chain needs.”

NTT DATA will also play a role in developing new digital services for UPS. By taking over data centre operations, the collaboration is expected to free up resources within UPS, allowing the company to reallocate cost savings towards innovation and growth initiatives, particularly those focused on digital-first customer solutions.

Delivering complete end-to-end transformation

NTT DATA’s services span the full spectrum of digital transformation. From designing and constructing advanced data centres to managing complex IT systems, the company’s integrated approach ensures businesses can focus on growth and innovation, while leaving the technical execution to a trusted partner.

Its offering includes IT services, infrastructure management, and cloud transformation, positioning it as a comprehensive solution provider for enterprises undergoing large-scale digital changes. The company’s focus on blending operational reliability with innovation has made it a preferred partner for many of the world’s leading organisations.

NTT DATA currently serves 75% of the Fortune Global 100 and employs a team of experts across more than 50 countries. The company is also part of the NTT Group, which invests over US$3.6 billion annually in research and development to drive sustainable digital progress.
