Marvel Snap is set to return to app stores, confirms developer

Second Dinner, developer of Marvel Snap, says the company will begin its return to app stores after TikTok-linked outages, starting with Google Play.

The popular mobile card game Marvel Snap is returning to app stores, beginning with Google Play. Developer Second Dinner announced yesterday that the restoration process kicked off at 6 PM PT / 3 PM ET. In a subsequent statement, the developer revealed plans to reintroduce the game to both Google and Appleโ€™s app stores โ€œas early as next week.โ€

This follows a tumultuous weekend when Marvel Snap was caught up in the TikTok outage due to its original publisher, Nuverse, being owned by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Although the game resumed service for players on Monday, Second Dinner announced its intentions to transition more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. However, according to the privacy policy on Marvel Snapโ€™s website, the game is still โ€œprovided, operated, and managed by Nuverse.โ€

Compensation packages offered for affected players

The outage impacted many players, prompting developers to offer compensation. An official Marvel Snap Discord server administrator detailed the rewards in a post later shared on Reddit. Affected players in the US or accounts with US-based activity in the 30 days before the outage will receive a package containing in-game credits, tokens, and special variants. Non-US players havenโ€™t been left out, as they will receive a โ€œGlobal Gratitude Packageโ€ featuring similar, albeit smaller, rewards.

These measures aim to rebuild trust and goodwill among the community after the disruption.

TikTok-linked apps face uncertain futures

Other apps affected by the TikTok-related outage, including CapCut and Lemon8, have returned online for existing users but remain unavailable for download in the iOS and Android app stores. Despite former President Donald Trump’s directive instructing the US Attorney General not to enforce the TikTok ban, itโ€™s unclear whether this protects Apple and Google from potential legal action should they host these apps in defiance of the ban.

While the political landscape surrounding ByteDance continues to evolve, Marvel Snap fans are eager to see their favourite game fully restored and available for download worldwide.
