LG reveals 2025 gaming monitors with innovative bendable 5K2K OLED

LG unveils its 2025 gaming monitors, led by a 5K2K bendable OLED. These monitors boast 21:9 aspect ratios and advanced features for immersive gaming.

LG is gearing up for CES 2025 by unveiling its latest gaming monitors, headlined by the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor. Touted as the “world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display,” this 45-inch marvel boasts a resolution of 5120×2160. That’s the exact vertical pixel count as a standard 4K display but stretched across a much wider canvas, giving you an immersive experience whether you’re gaming or working.

With a 21:9 aspect ratio, this monitor provides a more immersive viewing experience than standard 16:9 screens while maintaining better compatibility than the ultra-wide 32:9 format. The design also makes it an excellent option for productivity tasks when you’re not in gaming mode.

A new level of customisation

The UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A) stands out with its ability to transform from a flat display to a dramatic 900R curvature. LG’s updated Dual-Mode feature enhances this customisation, letting you switch seamlessly between different resolution and refresh rate presets. You can adjust the aspect ratio and picture size to suit your needs.

The monitor is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring smooth gameplay and reduced screen tearing. While LG hasn’t yet revealed the maximum refresh rate, the monitor’s other specs are impressive. These include a 0.03ms (GtG) response time and support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery.

A fixed curved option and more

If you prefer a permanent curved display, LG is also releasing a version with an 800R curve. Despite lacking the bendable feature, this model retains the same core specs: a 45-inch screen, 5K2K resolution, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, the monitor uses an RGWB subpixel layout, which enhances text clarity, making it ideal for multitasking or extended work sessions.

Joining the lineup is the UltraGear 39GX90SA, a 39-inch curved monitor powered by LG’s webOS. Marketed as a “home entertainment hub,” this model offers built-in access to streaming services, much like LG’s smart TVs. It also features USB Type-C connectivity and an ergonomic L-shaped stand to save desk space. While smaller than its 45-inch counterparts, it maintains the same 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve for a seamless viewing experience.

Pricing and availability

LG hasn’t shared pricing details or exact release dates yet, but these monitors are expected to launch in 2025. If you’re attending CES in Las Vegas, you can see the UltraGear GX9 series first-hand. Expect more details, including hands-on impressions and announcements from other brands, early next year.
