JBL’s Flip 7 and Charge 6 bring better sound and longer battery life

JBLโ€™s new Flip 7 and Charge 6 speakers offer longer battery life, better sound, and improved durability with AI Sound Boost and waterproofing.

JBL has unveiled the latest updates to its popular Bluetooth speaker lineup. The new JBL Flip 7 and JBL Charge 6 have improved battery life, upgraded sound quality, and a more rugged design. Both models also include JBLโ€™s AI Sound Boost technology, which promises to enhance volume without causing distortion.

Longer battery life and better sound quality

The JBL Flip 7 now offers up to 14 hours of playtime on a full charge, up from the 12 hours on the previous Flip 6 model. If you enable JBLโ€™s Playtime Boost feature, the battery life can be extended to 16 hours. However, this feature reduces lower bass frequencies and overall sound quality to conserve battery life.

Meanwhile, the JBL Charge 6 gets an even bigger upgrade. It boasts up to 24 hours of battery life, which can be extended to 28 hours with Playtime Boost activated. The Charge 6 also has an improved woofer, aiming to deliver deeper bass and a richer sound experience.

JBLโ€™s AI Sound Boost technology appears in the Flip and Charge series. The feature analyses audio in real-time using an AI algorithm, adjusting the sound output for clearer, more powerful audio with minimal distortion. Many portable speakers struggle with high-volume distortion, so this technology could be a game-changer for JBLโ€™s lineup.

Improved durability and connectivity

Both the Flip 7 and Charge 6 have been designed with durability in mind. They now feature an upgraded IP68 rating, making them waterproof and dustproof. You can confidently take them to the beach, pool, or any outdoor adventure without worrying about water or dirt damage.

Regarding connectivity, JBL has introduced Bluetooth Auracast, allowing you to link multiple speakers together for an even bigger sound. For those who prefer a wired connection, both speakers also support high-resolution, lossless audio when connected via USB-C to a compatible device and music service.

The JBL Flip 7 has also been redesigned to include an interchangeable carrying strap or a carabiner attachment, making it easy to take on the go. The JBL Charge 6, on the other hand, features a removable carrying strap that can be used as a wrist strap or attached to both ends of the speaker as a handle for easier portability.

Pricing and availability

The JBL Flip 7 is available for preorder now through JBLโ€™s official online store for US$149.95, and the JBL Charge 6 is priced at US$199.95. Both speakers are expected to start shipping on April 4.

With improved battery life, upgraded durability, and AI-powered sound enhancements, the Flip 7 and Charge 6 are set to be strong contenders in the portable speaker market. If youโ€™re looking for a high-quality Bluetooth speaker that lasts longer and sounds better, these latest JBL models might be worth considering.
