Ikea issues urgent recall for Varmfront power banks due to fire hazard

Ikea Singapore recalls specific Varmfront power banks due to fire hazard risks and offers full refunds without needing proof of purchase.

Ikea has urgently recalled certain Varmfront , citing fire hazard risks.

Recall details

In a Facebook post, Ikea Singapore notified customers to stop using the following Varmfront power banks immediately and contact the company for a full refund:

  • Varmfront power bank 10,400mAh (model number E2038) with date stamps 2313, 2316, 2318, or 2319.
  • Varmfront power bank 5,200mAh (model number E2037) with date stamps 2318, 2319, or 2322.

Due to manufacturing defects, these power banks are prone to fire hazards. The recall is limited to the power banks with these specific date stamps.

Affected units

Ikea’s records show that 36 units of the affected power banks have been sold locally. Luckily, no incidents have been reported. To determine if your power bank is among those recalled, check the model number and date stamp on the back of the device.

Refund process

If you own one of the affected Varmfront power banks, call the Ikea Customer Contact Centre at +65 6786-6868 or visit any Ikea store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is optional to obtain a refund.

Ikea is taking these steps to safeguard its customers and prevent fire hazards.
