Huawei’s triple-screen folding phone leaked once more

Huawei’s triple-screen folding phone has leaked again, showing a slim design and potential 10-inch tablet mode. It is expected to launch soon.

In a new set of leaked images, Huawei’s much-anticipated triple-screen folding phone has made yet another appearance, sparking excitement among tech enthusiasts. The photos, which Weibo user Whylab shared on Thursday, captured Huawei’s Consumer Group CEO, Yu Chengdong, holding the innovative device. Android Authority later reported the images, adding to the growing buzz around this upcoming release.

The design is slim and futuristic

The leaked images reveal a slim and sleek design, suggesting that Huawei’s triple-folding phone could be as thin as the current single-hinged foldable, like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 6, when folded into a regular smartphone shape. Despite its slim profile, the device still features a noticeable camera bump. This design choice aligns with the industry trend of prioritising a slim, portable form factor while maintaining high-end camera capabilities.

Rumours suggest that this new device could expand into a 10-inch tablet, slightly larger than the 8-inch foldable tablets currently on the market. This would make it impressive and versatile, offering more screen real estate for users who need it. According to Android Authority, the phone is expected to be officially launched as soon as next month.

A glimpse of the future

This is not the first time we’ve seen hints of this device. Last week, a photo emerged showing Chengdong using the unfolded phone on a plane. The image highlighted the screen’s crease, a common issue with foldable displays, but also revealed a small front-facing camera located on the top left side. This indicates that Huawei is refining its design to balance functionality with cutting-edge technology.

The idea of a tri-fold OLED phone has been introduced previously. Until now, such devices have mostly been conceptual, with prototypes being showcased by companies like Xiaomi and TCL. Even Samsung, a leader in the foldable market, introduced a tri-fold concept called the Flex S at CES in 2022. However, Huawei’s device appears to be the closest to becoming a consumer-ready product, and these recent leaks suggest that the company is pushing the boundaries of mobile technology.

What this means for the future

If Huawei succeeds in bringing this triple-screen foldable phone to market, it could set a new standard in the foldable phone industry. A device that can function as both a smartphone and a 10-inch tablet could attract a wide range of users, from tech enthusiasts to professionals who need more screen space on the go.

While the price and exact release date are still under wraps, the leaked images and ongoing rumours indicate that Huawei is positioning itself to make a significant impact with this new technology.
