Hitachi Vantara and Veeam forge a global alliance to enhance cybersecurity

Hitachi Vantara and Veeam Software announce a strategic partnership to provide advanced cybersecurity solutions, enhancing data protection and ransomware recovery for businesses globally.

Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced a strategic partnership with Veeam Software, the market leader in data protection and ransomware recovery. This alliance aims to deliver advanced cyber-resiliency and data protection solutions, crucial in an era marked by frequent ransomware attacks and data breaches.

A strategic response to rising cybersecurity threats

The collaboration between Hitachi Vantara and Veeam is set against a backdrop of increasing cyber threats, as highlighted by the Veeam 2024 Data Protection Trends Report. This report reveals that at least 76% of organisations experienced a ransomware attack in the past year, underscoring the urgent need for robust cybersecurity strategies. The partnership integrates Hitachi Vantaraโ€™s infrastructure capabilities with Veeamโ€™s expertise in data protection, offering businesses vital safeguards against these disruptions.

Enhancing cyber resilience through integrated solutions

The partnership will see the integration of Veeamโ€™s data protection software with Hitachi Vantaraโ€™s infrastructure, including their Virtual Storage Platform One, Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), and Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP). These integrated solutions aim to provide enhanced cyber resiliency features such as ransomware detection, rapid recovery, and immutable storage, thereby improving recovery point objectives (RPOs) and ensuring data integrity across hybrid cloud environments.

Kimberly King, senior vice president of strategic partners and alliances at Hitachi Vantara, stated, “As we continue to champion a channel-first approach, our partnership with Veeam epitomises our commitment to empowering our partners. By joining forces, we not only ensure that our partners have access to competitively priced solutions from Hitachi Vantara but also equip them with comprehensive deployment and management services to better serve their stakeholders.”

Larissa Crandall, vice president of global channel and alliances at Veeam Software, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the partnershipโ€™s focus on cyber resilience. “Our partnership is focused on providing cyber resilience to our customers,” said Crandall. “The combination of Hitachi Vantara’s infrastructure capabilities and Veeam’s software expertise empowers businesses with easy-to-deploy, advanced data protection and ransomware recovery solutions that ensure the integrity and availability of their critical data assets at all times.”

A strategic approach to modern data protection

This strategic alliance not only addresses immediate cybersecurity challenges but also supports long-term operational resilience. The solutions offered are aligned with The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, ensuring businesses can meet strict regulatory requirements while protecting their data. Steve White, program vice president for IDC’s worldwide channels and alliances research, emphasized the importance of this partnership in the current cybersecurity landscape. “This collaboration comes at a crucial time for enterprises,” he noted. “In a landscape filled with cyber risks, this partnership not only equips businesses with essential tools to navigate the complexities of modern data protection but also reinforces trust by bringing together industry leaders to provide a reliable defense against evolving security challenges.”

Through this collaboration, Hitachi Vantara and Veeam are setting a new standard in data protection, enhancing the cybersecurity posture of businesses worldwide.
