Google Pixel 9a arrives in Singapore this April for S$799

The Google Pixel 9a launches in Singapore in April 2025 with a Tensor G4 chip, 48MP camera, and seven years of updates, starting at S$799.

Google is set to launch its latest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 9a, in Singapore this April. Packed with many of the same software features as the premium Pixel 9 series, this device offers a more affordable alternative without compromising performance.

Powerful performance at a lower price

At the heart of the Pixel 9a is the Google Tensor G4 processor, the same powerful chip found in the flagship Pixel 9 models. This means you get top-tier performance at a lower price, with the cost savings coming from other components rather than the processing power.

The phone features a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera, making it the first A-series Pixel to include Macro Focus. You also get Google’s signature camera software, including Night Sight for low-light photography and Add Me, which ensures everyone appears in a group shot. However, unlike the flagship models, the Pixel 9a does not include a telephoto lens.

Google’s AI-powered photo editing tools, such as Best Take, Photo Unblur, and Magic Editor, remain fully accessible on the Pixel 9a. The phone also integrates Gemini AI, providing features like Gemini Live for real-time conversation and AI-enhanced Gmail and Google Maps tools.

Another highlight is that the Pixel 9a is eligible for Pixel Drops, which bring regular software and security updates. Google has confirmed that the device will receive seven years of updates, the same as its premium counterparts.

A fresh design with durable features

The Pixel 9a departs from Google’s traditional Camera Bar design and opts instead for a sleek, pill-shaped rear camera cutout that sits more flush against the phone. It retains an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability.

The phone’s 6.3-inch Actua Display has a 2,424 x 1,080 pixels resolution with a standard 20:9 aspect ratio. It supports a refresh rate 60-120Hz and offers a peak brightness of 2,700 nits, making it ideal for outdoor use. The device also features an on-display fingerprint sensor for easy and secure unlocking.

Under the hood, the Pixel 9a includes 8GB of RAM and offers two storage options: 128GB and 256 GB. Its 5,100mAh battery supports 23W wired charging and 7.5W Qi-certified wireless charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G Sub-G compatibility. Additionally, it supports dual-SIM functionality with one nano-SIM and one eSIM.

Price and availability

The Google Pixel 9a will be available in four colours: Obsidian, Iris, Peony, and Porcelain. The 128GB model costs S$799, and the 256GB version costs S$939.

The device can be purchased from the Google Online Store and various retail partners, including Amazon, COURTS, Singtel, Shopee, Lazada, Metapod, iShopChangi, Best Denki, and Atrix. Official sales begin from 16 April 2025.

Matching phone cases in the same four colours will also be available, starting at S$45.99.
