Square Enix has announced that the highly anticipated HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III will be released on November 14. First revealed during a Nintendo Direct event, the remake is set to launch on major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Those eager to play on Steam must wait an extra day, as the PC release is scheduled for November 15. This remake aims to revitalise the classic RPG with stunning HD-2D graphics, providing fans with an updated and immersive experience in the beloved world of Dragon Quest III.

What to expect from the remake

The remake isn’t just a visual upgrade. You’ll find several new features that add depth and excitement to the original storyline. Notably, the game will include new scenes that delve into the life and adventures of Ortega, the protagonist’s father. These additions will give you a deeper understanding of his character and challenges.

The team includes General Director Yuji Hori, the legendary Character Designer Akira Toriyama, and the late Music Composer Koichi Sugiyama. ARTDINK Corporation is handling the development in collaboration with Square Enix’s team, Asano.

The legacy of Dragon Quest continues to grow, with Square Enix also announcing remakes of Dragon Quest I and II in HD-2D, set for release in 2025 on the same platforms.
