Commvault leads in cloud-native data protection

Commvault secures top ranking in the 2024 GigaOm Sonar Report, emphasising its leadership in cloud-native data protection and cyber resilience.

Commvault, a leader in cyber resilience and data protection solutions for hybrid cloud environments, has clinched the top spot in the 2024 GigaOm Sonar Report for Cloud-Native Data Protection. This prestigious ranking places Commvault at the forefront of the industry, leading a competitive pack of 13 vendors based on its performance across 10 critical characteristics.

Pioneering in hybrid cloud data security

Recognised as both a “Leader” and “Forward Mover,” Commvault’s platform has been highly praised by GigaOm for its robust performance in cloud-native data protection and support for hybrid cloud environments. The report lauds the platform for its comprehensive workload coverage and enterprise-level resilience, highlighting its seamless integration of data protection, cyber recovery, and cloud-native app rebuild into a unified suite.

GigaOm also notes the strategic acquisition of Appranix as a significant enhancement to Commvault’s capabilities, extending its cyber recovery and resilience features within the hyperscaler space. This move has strengthened Commvault’s ability to discover and rebuild cloud-native applications, positioning it as a robust solution for contemporary enterprises.

Strategic innovations and collaborative growth

A standout feature of Commvault’s offerings is the Cleanroom Recovery, which ensures secure, isolated environments for cyber recovery testing and facilitates rapid and secure recovery from cyber incidents without reinfection risks. The report praises Commvault for its ability to automate and prioritise recovery workflows, which enhances the platform’s resilience and operational efficiency.

The platform’s AI-supported automation layer and generative AI interactions, led by its AI co-pilot Arlie, are also highlighted as pivotal in making Commvault ideal for enterprises facing complex, hybrid IT environments.

Chester Conforte, a GigaOm analyst, stated, “True cyber resilience requires security and IT teams to work together across an infinitely variable number of workloads, applications, and infrastructure, which can be complex. Commvault Cloud Platform delivers the broadest and deepest set of capabilities to address data threats, attack tactics, continuous validation, forensic analysis, and recovery needs across legacy on-prem, shared storage, endpoint, VM, public, private, and SaaS clouds all in a unified and extensible platform.”

Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer at Commvault, commented, “We’re thrilled to be recognised by GigaOm as a Leader in cloud-native data protection. This acknowledgement truly reflects Commvault’s commitment to being the best vendor for cloud-native workloads. With cloud, your data protection strategy needs to go beyond restoring data and focus on reconstructing cloud applications – critical to being resilient following a cyberattack or outage. We will continue to strengthen our cloud native capabilities while empowering our customers to advance and accelerate their cloud journeys.”

The growth of Commvault’s partner ecosystem is also a key strength, enhancing its offerings and extending its reach through strategic partnerships with leading technology providers.
