Biggest AAA video games coming in 2022: PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch, PC

Take a look at the best AAA games to expect

We expect 2022 to be a phenomenal year for the gaming industry. Some really big titles are coming out later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch, and more. Several franchises will be releasing the next games in their series, like God of War, Gran Turismo, Horizon, Pokemon, and many more.

Both PS5 and Xbox Series X took video games to the ninth generation of consoles, and now games can offer us so much more in terms of graphics. And the big developer studios took the chance to take their AAA games to the next level. Let’s look over some of the most anticipated titles and the details around them.

God of War: Ragnarok

Some people say that this is potentially the biggest game expected in 2022, so we decided to start with it. For this title, there were a lot of rumors, but already many of them have been confirmed or denied. We all want to know what will be the next adventure of Kratos and his son Atreus in God of War: Ragnarok.

There is no official release date, but according to some sources, it can be expected in the middle of 2022. The game was expected even in 2021, but because of some circumstances that weren’t under the developers’ control, the game has been delayed by a lot. The title will be available for PS4 and PS5.

In the trailer, you will be able to see many details for the game like the new graphics, new elements, and, of course, some small parts of the story. As we can see, the story will be built around the relationship between father and son. While Kratos and Atreus work on their bond, they will meet the mighty Thor on their journey. Will the God of Thunder want to fight them alongside his sister Freya or might he join Kratos against her? We still don’t know.

The gameplay will be, of course, taken to the next level, but at its core, it will remain the same. Kratos will be again using his deadly blades, but also the Leviathan Axe will reappear. Atreus will be able to summon a mystical mount, and who knows what else thanks to his growing powers.

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is coming out in February 2022, and it is another highly-anticipated PS exclusive game. It will be again available for PS4 and PS5, but of course, the PS5 version will be just stunning, thanks to the superb graphics capabilities of the console.

The game will continue the story of Aloy that started back in 2017 with the first part of this game series. The hero will have to go to the western United States this time because the Red Blight sensed a mysterious threat there. The world that we will see will be the same — full of machines that might be on your side or might attack you at any moment.

Something new will be the underwater exploration missions and, of course, new weapons and skills that Aloy will be able to use. The game will be just beautiful, and if you have a big screen to enjoy it on, it is worth getting it.

Elden Ring

This game is arriving in early 2022, and we can’t wait for it. If you don’t know it by now, this game is a collaboration between the Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin. You can imagine how dark and packed with twists this game will be as we know both of them and their styles.

You will get partly the feeling that it is really close to Dark Souls, but still, some unique new parts will take your breath away. You will be able to explore 6 main areas on the open-world map, which will be a drawn one where you can place your markers. Now you will be ale able to fight on the back of your horse!

The primary campaign will be around 30 hours if you get everything right from the first try, but you can definitely enjoy it longer if you decide to do some side quests. And let’s not forget the most fantastic thing — Elden Ring is multiplayer! The game will be available for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the franchise’s latest game, and it will be available as expected on Switch. And after the trailer was released, many people said that this is the best Switch game so far.

Not only are the graphics beautiful, but the story is also fantastic. Of course, the main goal will be to “catch ‘em all,” and this is what you actually would want from a Pokemon game. But you will meet some new gym leaders and participate in some exciting battles.

We are used to a world where everyone has their own Pokemon, and they are very much the norm, but this game will take us to an era where they were still a mystery. So, you will be able to be one of the first to research them and maybe meet some that are considered extinct in the previous games.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction

Just like Rainbow Six Siege, this will be a tactical PvE shooter game. The game’s original name was Quarantine, which can suggest already that you will fight against nasty contagious creatures. To be more precise — parasitic-human mutants called the Archaeans.

You will have to work together with other players or alone, if you want, collect information on how to stop those creatures. The game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC.

Gran Turismo 7

The game will be available for both PS4 and PS5, and it is one of the biggest Sony exclusives. For all the fans of car games, this is the perfect one!

You will be able to play in full career mode this time, and you will see many new cars that will be just amazing to drive. Of course, the graphics have been improved and the way how you can upgrade your ride as well.

Hogwarts Legacy

And let’s end up with something magical. The new Harry Potter-related game — Hogwarts Legacy is expected later this year. It will be an RPG game that will take us to the Harry Potter universe, but Harry and his friends won’t be involved. You will become a student of the famous School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Hogwarts and face your own challenges.

Like many other AAA games, this one has been delayed. Unfortunately for many, it won’t be a multiplayer game, but it is still stunning and will make a part of a universe that is a favorite place of many. Another downside is that it will be available only for PS5, but it is understandable since the developers’ goal was to make the graphics just perfect.
