ASUS teams up with Bethesda to launch ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition

ASUS celebrates 30 years of graphics cards with a limited ROG RTX 5080 DOOM Edition, launched in partnership with Bethesda and id Software.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced a collaboration with Bethesda and id Software to create a limited-edition graphics card inspired by the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages. The announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of ASUS graphics cards and serves as a tribute to the long-running DOOM franchise, a series that has left a lasting impact on the PC gaming industry.

The highlight of this partnership is the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition, an exclusive model inspired by the iconic DOOM Slayer. This collector’s item will be available only through the Bethesda Gear Store and comes bundled with themed merchandise and optional game content, making it a highly sought-after release for gamers and collectors alike.

A celebration of gaming legacies

The collaboration between ASUS, Bethesda, and id Software marks a union of two pioneers in the PC gaming space. ASUS began producing graphics cards three decades ago, and DOOM has been a key title in shaping modern FPS gameplay since its original release.

This limited-edition release celebrates both legacies. The graphics card package includes a custom-designed ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition GPU, along with a DOOM-themed T-shirt, mouse mat, yellow key card, and an exclusive ROG DOOM Slayer Legionary in-game skin. Buyers can also opt to receive the Premium Edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages as part of the bundle.

Set as a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, DOOM: The Dark Ages explores a dark medieval storyline that expands the mythos of the DOOM Slayer. Built on the new idTech8 engine, the game supports native ray tracing and benefits from AI-powered NVIDIA DLSS 4, promising exceptional performance and graphical fidelity when powered by the latest GeForce RTX 50 Series cards.

Kent Chien, Corporate Vice President of ASUS, said, “We are thrilled to continue our 30th anniversary celebrations by collaborating with the developers of DOOM, who have also played a pioneering role in the PC gaming industry for over three decades. We partnered closely with id Software and Bethesda to develop a graphics card that we hope fans of the DOOM franchise will cherish and take pride in showcasing within their systems and collections.”

Hardware and design inspired by the DOOM universe

The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition stands out with a bold green and gold colour scheme, featuring DOOM Slayer artwork on the backplate and custom green fans inspired by the Shield Saw weapon. Additional design details, including gold accents on the heatsink and rear mounting bracket, as well as subtle sentinel figures and iconography around the frame, connect the card closely to the DOOM universe.

Beneath the eye-catching design is a high-performance engine equipped with robust power delivery and 16GB of GDDR7 memory, offering cutting-edge performance for 4K gaming at high refresh rates. Cooling is handled by a suite of features designed for thermal efficiency, including a large fin array, an optimised heat spreader, patented vapour chamber, a phase-change thermal pad, and four Axial-tech fans.

These features ensure the card performs at its peak during intense gaming sessions, making it ideal for those seeking an immersive experience in DOOM: The Dark Ages or other high-end titles. The combination of aesthetic appeal and powerful hardware positions the card as both a functional component and a collector’s item.

Available exclusively on the Bethesda Gear Store

ASUS and Bethesda are offering the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition as a limited-edition release, with availability restricted to the Bethesda Gear Store. It is not just a celebration of technological achievement but also a nod to the origins of PC gaming and the community that continues to support it.

For fans of DOOM or ROG hardware, the collaboration provides an opportunity to own a unique piece of gaming history. With its strong visual theme, top-tier specifications, and exclusive extras, this edition aims to capture the attention of gamers and collectors worldwide.
