Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro might be equipped with an M4 chip

Rumours suggest Apple's upcoming iPad Pro may feature an M4 chip, OLED displays, and more, with an announcement expected on May 7.

In a surprising development, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple’s forthcoming iPad Pro could be equipped with an advanced M4 chip. This potential update has stirred considerable excitement among tech enthusiasts and could mark a significant technological leap for the iPad Pro line.

According to Gurman, the introduction of the M4 chip could greatly enhance the iPad Pro’s capabilities, particularly in handling more complex artificial intelligence tasks. The new chip is expected to include an upgraded neural engine, which could significantly improve the device’s efficiency and performance in AI applications.

This announcement comes shortly after the release of the M3 chips in October, sparking debates about the feasibility and timing of such a significant upgrade. However, the strategic timing of this launchโ€”just before the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 1โ€”suggests that Apple may be positioning the new iPad Pro and its M4 chip as a cornerstone of its future AI strategy.

The upcoming iPad Pro is also rumoured to boast several other impressive features, including OLED displays, a first for the iPad line. This would offer users enhanced visuals with more vibrant colours and deeper blacks. Additionally, a redesign of the FaceTime camera’s position could improve the user experience during video calls.

Further excitement surrounds the potential launch of a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air, alongside new iterations of the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, which are expected to complement the new iPad Pro.

With the official announcement anticipated for May 7, it won’t be long until these rumours are confirmed or dispelled. This release is set to not only invigorate the iPad lineup but also potentially set a new standard for tablet technology.
