Apple reveals slimmer, smarter Apple Watch Series 10 with enhanced health features

Discover the new Apple Watch Series 10 with its slimmer design, bigger screen, advanced health features, and faster charging capabilities.

Apple has officially unveiled the highly anticipated Apple Watch Series 10, a milestone moment as the company marks nearly a decade since the first Apple Watch launched in 2015. This latest version of the wearable tech comes with a range of impressive updates and is set to significantly impact how you track your health, manage your day, and stay connected.

A slimmer design with a bigger, brighter screen

The most noticeable change in the Apple Watch Series 10 is its sleek and slim design. Measuring only 9.7mm thick, it’s about 10 per cent thinner than its predecessor, the Series 9. This makes it Apple’s thinnest watch to date and one that offers both comfort and style for everyday wear.

But that’s not all. Apple has introduced its largest and brightest display ever. The new wide-angle OLED screen extends further down the sides, giving you more room to read messages and notifications. This extra space, while subtle, allows for an additional line of text, making it easier to read on the go. And despite the larger screen, Apple has made it incredibly power-efficient, so you won’t have to worry about draining your battery too quickly.

Packed with powerful tech and health features

Beneath the slim design is the powerful new S10 chip, with a four-core neural engine that enhances the watch’s performance and features. The chip is housed in a polished aluminium case, paired with a metal back that helps with wireless connectivity by integrating various antennas. As always, the Apple Watch remains water-resistant up to 50 metres, but the new model includes an upgraded charging coil, promising faster charging times—up to 80 per cent battery life in just 30 minutes.

One of the standout features in the Series 10 is its ability to detect sleep apnoea, a condition that causes you to briefly stop breathing while you sleep. This typically requires medical-grade equipment and an overnight hospital stay, but Apple aims to bring this capability to your wrist. The Series 10 will track your breathing patterns throughout the night using the watch’s accelerometer. If it detects any irregularities, it will alert you and generate a report you can share with your doctor. However, it’s worth noting that this feature is still awaiting FDA approval but is expected to be available at launch in select regions, including the US, Europe, and Japan.

For fitness lovers, there are even more tools to track their activities. The Series 10 includes a new depth sensor and a water temperature sensor, making it ideal for swimming. Additionally, the watch has been designed to be lighter, which should make it more comfortable for all-day wear. For music fans, Apple has added the ability to play songs or podcasts directly from the watch’s built-in speaker, a first for the Apple Watch series.

Available in new colours and materials

Apple has also expanded the colour options for the Aluminium version of the Series 10. You can now choose from Jet Black, Rose Gold, and Silver Aluminium. The Titanium model is available in Natural, Gold, and Slate if you prefer a more premium feel. The Aluminium model starts at S$599, while the Titanium version begins at S$1,049. Pre-orders are open now, and the watch will officially launch on September 20.

This launch signals another step forward in wearable technology as Apple continues innovating and adding features that aim to improve your lifestyle and health. Whether you’re looking for a stylish new accessory or more advanced health monitoring, the Series 10 has much to offer.
