Apple gears up for a big reveal: New Mac models expected this October

Apple is expected to announce new Mac models by the end of October, including a refreshed 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip and potentially updated MacBook Pros. Keep an eye out for Apple's big reveal.

Tech enthusiasts and Apple fans are buzzing with anticipation as the tech giant prepares to unveil new Mac models by the end of October.ย Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has reported that Apple is planning a Mac-focused event for either October 30 or 31. The imminent release is expected to break the silence in Apple’s Mac lineup, which has been a while since it has been a significant upgrade.

What’s in the pipeline

The spotlight will likely shine on a refreshed 24-inch iMac overdue update. Last launched in 2021, the new version is expected to feature an M3 chip, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. As for the colours, you can still expect to see the same vibrant optionsโ€”blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple.

Apple has reportedly pushed its release to late 2024 or 2025 due to cost considerations. When it does arrive, it’s expected to sport a 32-inch display, making it the largest iMac to date.

The MacBook Pro conundrum

Gurman’s latest reports also suggest that the current inventory levels of the 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch MacBook Pros at Apple Stores are dwindling. This has led to speculation about a possible refresh for these models. Although the higher-end MacBook Pro models were updated as recently as January of this year, another update isn’t entirely off the cards.

Gurman had previously stated that new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros would arrive by the middle of 2024. However, he now believes Apple has made significant progress on these models. Despite this, Gurman only anticipates significant changes besides internal upgrades like processors and perhaps minor display improvements.

What to watch for

With just a week or so left in October, it remains to be seen how Apple will make the big revealโ€”whether through an online launch event or a simple press release. With Apple also slated to release its quarterly earnings in November, all signs point to major announcements coming from Cupertino.

So, if you’re considering buying a new Mac, you should hold off for a bit. The end of the month promises to bring exciting updates and potentially game-changing features to Apple’s computing lineup.
