Android 15’s antitheft feature and business tools in Brazil

Google tests Android 15's AI-based antitheft feature in Brazil, adding new ways to message businesses via WhatsApp for improved security and convenience.

Google is taking a proactive stance to address the high smartphone theft rates in Brazil. They have initiated testing of a new antitheft feature for Android 15 in the country. If you’re in Brazil, you have the opportunity to be part of this testing phase and contribute to the development of this feature.

The Theft Detection Lock feature uses artificial intelligence to identify if your phone is being stolen. It detects jerky movements that suggest theft and monitors attempts to use the phone on unfamiliar networks or extended absences from your regular network.

This automatic antitheft feature is part of Google’s larger initiative to enhance privacy and security in Android 15. Alongside this, Google is introducing a password-locked vault called “Private Space,” which will securely store sensitive apps and data. The theft detection feature will also be available for older Android versions.

New ways to contact businesses

On top of the enhanced security features, Android users in Brazil will soon benefit from a more streamlined way to connect with businesses. You can now easily message businesses directly via WhatsApp by tapping a button in the business’s search listing. This practical feature is designed to simplify communication and enable you to schedule appointments with local professionals, such as doctors and cosmetologists, directly from the search results.

These new features are currently exclusive to Brazil. If you’re an Android user there, you can experience these enhancements first.
