A revolutionary update to Logic Pro enhances iPad and Mac with AI capabilities

Discover the enhanced AI-powered features in the latest Logic Pro update for iPad and Mac, offering new virtual session players and innovative audio tools.

After the successful launch of Logic Pro for iPad last year, Apple is set to release the much-anticipated Logic Pro for iPad 2 on May 13, 2024. This update is enriched with AI-driven features designed to revolutionise the music production process.

The Drummer feature, a staple in Logic Pro X since its 2013 debut, provided a virtual session player that could automatically accompany musicians. Building on this innovative foundation, the new update expands this concept to include session players. Now, users can enjoy not just a drummer but also a bass player and a keyboard player, creating a more comprehensive virtual band.

Expanding musical horizons with AI

The new Bass Player has been developed in collaboration with professional bassists, employing AI and advanced sampling techniques to create a realistic musical experience. Users can choose from eight different bass players, each offering unique styles that adjust to the complexity and intensity of the music. The update includes 100 Bass Player loops, and the new Chord Track feature allows the Bass Player to jam along with predefined chord progressions.

Additionally, the Studio Bass plug-in provides access to six acoustic and electric bass instruments, inspired by the most popular bass tones and genres in today’s music scene.

The Keyboard Player also benefits from AI enhancements, offering four distinct styles and a variety of sound variations, from simple block chords to complex chord voicings with extended harmonies. The Chord Track feature ensures that the keyboard player can follow any chord progression, while the Studio Piano plug-in offers advanced sound-shaping options. Users can adjust mic positions, pedal noise, key noise, release samples, and sympathetic resonance to fine-tune their piano sounds.

Revolutionary tools for sound separation and enhancement

The new Stem Splitter feature, powered by AI and Apple’s advanced M-series silicon, is a game-changer for audio editing. It allows users to separate audio recordings into four distinct tracks: drums, bass, vocals, and other instruments. This separation makes applying effects and remixing tracks far simpler and more intuitive.

ChromaGlow, Apple’s latest tool in the Logic Pro suite, adds warmth and character to tracks with five different saturation styles. Whether you’re aiming for a clean, modern sound or a more nostalgic, vintage tone, ChromaGlow provides the flexibility to achieve the desired audio aesthetic.

The updates extend beyond iPad users; Logic Pro for Mac is set for enhancements too. Both Logic Pro for Mac 11 and Logic Pro for iPad 2 will roll out as free updates for current users on May 13, 2024. Newcomers can acquire Logic Pro for Mac 11 at a cost of S$299.98. Alternatively, a subscription to Logic Pro for iPad 2 is available for S$6.98 monthly or S$69 annually.
