A new smaller Mac Mini and refreshed iPad Mini are expected in November

Apple may launch a smaller Mac Mini and refresh the iPad Mini in November, alongside M4-powered MacBook Pros and iMacs, as rumoured by Mark Gurman.

Apple is preparing to announce the launch of new Mac models at the end of October, with sales starting on November 1. Among these new releases, a smaller version of the Mac Mini is expected, which is said to be about the size of an Apple TV. Bloombergโ€™s Mark Gurman revealed the details in his “Power On” newsletter. In addition, a long-awaited refresh of the iPad Mini is also on the way, its first update since 2021.

A smaller Mac Mini with a new M4 chip

The new Mac Mini is expected to highlight Apple’s upcoming lineup. The device is set to undergo a significant physical transformation and will be much smaller than previous versions. Rumoured to be about the same size as an Apple TV, the new design will also feature Appleโ€™s latest M4 chip.

Despite the size reduction, the M4 Pro version of the Mac Mini is expected to come with a good range of connectivity options. However, it’s unlikely to include any USB-A ports, a detail that might disappoint those who still rely on older peripherals. Gurman also suggests that this new Mac Mini could be the most exciting hardware update in Apple’s autumn releases due to its modern design and enhanced processing power.

New MacBook Pros and iMacs expected

The October announcement isn’t just about the Mac Mini. According to Gurman, Apple will also unveil M4-powered versions of several other Mac models. This includes updates to the 14-inch MacBook Pro base model and the more powerful 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro options. The iMac will also get a performance boost by adding the M4 chip.

These MacBook Pro models are expected to maintain their familiar design but will receive significant internal upgrades, making them faster and more efficient for professional users. Apple has continued to build on its custom silicon strategy, which has improved performance and battery life across its range of computers.

iPad Mini and future updates

Alongside the Mac lineup, the iPad Mini is also getting a long-overdue update. However, unlike the Mac Miniโ€™s potential redesign, the iPad Mini refresh is expected to be a straightforward internal upgrade. It will mainly focus on improved specifications, such as a faster processor, but without any major changes to its physical design. This marks its first update since 2021, and while it may not be as visually different, the improved performance will likely make it a valuable addition to Apple’s tablet lineup.

Looking ahead to 2025, Gurman predicts more exciting launches. Apple is planning to release M4-powered MacBook Airs, a redesigned iPhone SE, refreshed iPad Airs, and new Magic Keyboards. There is also talk of a new AirTag arriving in the first half of next year. Additionally, the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which were not part of the M3 upgrades, are expected to receive updates in mid- to late 2025.

With this schedule, Apple continues its push to improve its devices and bring its latest custom silicon chips to more products. The upcoming launches offer faster, more efficient options for casual users and professionals alike.
